We recently collaborated with Erect Architecture and won the bid to consult and construct a new peer-conceived adventure playground in Kilburn Grange Park, Camden. We will be starting a series of workshops in the development space in June to introduce the local young people and the designers to the possibilities of use for the area. This should be a fascinating project that draws on the local community to create their own bespoke space for play and movement.

Off the wall will be held at Vauxhall this Sunday from 12.45, meeting outside the Vauxhall Tavern Pub on Goding Street. Anyone is welcome and the Jam is totally free for everyone. Today sees us running workshops as part of Petchey Academy's Health Day. Through partnerships with local healthcare providers including major teaching hospitals, the Royal College of Nursing, the National Health Service (NHS), and the local healthcare trust, the Petchey Academy specialises in health, care and medical sciences. This opens up career and life opportunities which have not easily been available to many young people in London.

Thursday 28th May we will be running a parkour taster day for the London Youth organisation, who are embracing the discipline as part of their new sports programme – ‘Getting Ready for 2012 and beyond’. London Youth is a vibrant network of more than 400 youth clubs serving 75,000 young people a year, and this event launches the project which will expand to reach many more youth clubs and young people across the capital.

This month Kiell is running a competition alongside his blog post for a single lucky winner to recieve one of his photos in A2 poster size. The competition is only open to UK residents, so head on over to his blog post HERE and read about just what you have to do to win!

This weekend Johann will be the special guest instructor at the Danish Street Camp III seminar organised by the guys at Street Movement. The camp runs from 29th May to June 1st in Denmark, and more details can be found by clicking the link above (and relying on Google translator!). Should be a great event!

This Wednesday, May 27th, we will be at Brighton University running an event featuring workshops for PE teachers from around the UK, demonstrations and presentations on the benefits of the discipline in schools and for young people. Brighton University is one of the hubs for the development of training for Physical Education teachers in schools, and with the demand for good parkour instruction in schools growing this serves as one of several great opportunities to introduce these teachers to the basic principles of the discipline.

This is a reminder that Moberley sports center will be closed on bank holiday Monday and therefore our Academy class will also be taking a break. All will resume on Tuesday with the beginner class at Westminster academy near Royal Oak station. For more information visit our Classes page HERE.

Monday next week we will be running workshops and a demonstration at the world-famous Hay Literature Festival in the UK, as part of the launch of our new Handbook of Parkour/Freerunning. Dan, Stephane, Chris, Johann and Blane will be at the event all day, filming some pieces with SKY TV as well as running the workshops and demos.

our partners in France, Majestic Force, are running a group of courses during the months of July and August for all abilities and anyone over the age of 12. The workshops are a way of discovering the discipline and aims at fulfilling the aspirations of all Art du Deplacement trainees who wish to get a deeper understanding of the roots of the discipline. A little while ago we ran a seminar event in Rome, Italy in collaboration with Parkour Italy and Majestic Force, as an effort to raise money and gifts for children in Rome's most respected Pediatrics Hospital. The event was a huge success with a massive turnout from the Italian community, and just recently this little video edit of the conditioning day has gone up from the guys at Parkour Italy.

Following the huge success of the last 3 annual 'Rendezvous' international parkour gatherings in London, we are now close to announcing the date for number 4... and for the first time it will be a summer event! Already shaping up to be bigger and better than anything previous, this time the event will not only involve the passing on of knowledge from many of the world's best and most experienced practitioners and instructors but will also include several brand new aspects in the itinerary. Over the next 5 weeks our usual indoor Academy space at Moberly is being refitted, which means the Monday and Thursday classes there will be held in a section of the main sports hall instead. A little smaller, it just means everyone will have to be that much more spatially aware during training..! Please note that the classes ARE still running, but you won't find us in our usual space. The latest school to join our Parkour for Schools training course programme is Aylands School in Enfield, a special school for children who have Emotional or Behavioural Difficulties. The classes begin there Tuesday 19th May and run every week until the end of term, and it should prove to be a very positive and interesting course for both the young people and our team alike. Tomorrow sees us running another class for the ongoing Pupil Referral Unit workshop course for the City of Westminster. Pupil Referral Units, as part of the government's Every Child Matters scheme, exist to provide a suitable and appropriate education to children of compulsory school age who, because of illness, exclusion or otherwise, are unable to attend a maintained (ie mainstream or special) school.

After a long wait, photos of the last international gathering in London - Rendezvous 3, hosted at the Southbank Centre - are now on the site for all to see. Though the first day was rain-drenched and freezing cold, the spirit and atmosphere of the event was simply amazing, and we hope these photos catch a little bit of that. In response to increased demand and with the summer looming, we are pleased to announce that we will now be running the Women's Beginner Class every week. The class is held outdoors at regular training spots on Thursday evenings from 7.00-8.30pm, run by a dedicated team of male and female instructors, and places must be reserved in advance either through our online booking system or by emailing Tracey on tracey (at) parkourgenerations.com.

Next week Team Members Tracey and Annty will be doing a photoshoot and feature for Wired Magazine, focussing on the physics of parkour and movement. Should be a fascinating piece, and no doubt will generate some amazing images as they shoot at central London locations. We'll let you know when the issue hits the shelves.

Tomorrow, Friday 8th May, will see Dan being interviewed on Chris Evans' 'Drivetime' radio show on BBC2 at 6.45pm, looking at all aspects of parkour and its development, particularly the positive benefits it has had for children and adults alike in terms of fitness, mental discipline, and expanded awareness of the environment. This weekend we will be running a two-day training camp for a group of young people and youth workers from Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, Wales. It's great to see the discipline expanding rapidly in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and we are now experiencing an impressive swell of interest building all across the UK.

This Sunday, 10th May, there will be a free Girls' Jam training day in London, meeting at Latimer Road tube station (Hammersmith and City Line) at 12pm. Open to any and all women, no matter their level of experience or ability, the Girl Jams are a great way for women to get together and train in a friendly, helpful environment. With many experienced practitioners there to share tips and advice on training, along with at least one Parkour Generations instructor on hand at all times, the Jams are well worth the tube fare! This Saturday team member Blane will be running a workshop at John Bentley School in Calne, Wiltshire, from 10am-1pm. The Calne scene has grown incredibly well since we have been running workshops there, with several of the young guys becoming solid practitioners over the last two years. Great to see such enthusiasm from the schools and from Wiltshire Alternative Youth Sports who organise and support the sessions.

Erect Architecture is an award winning group of London-based architects whose most recent project is to create a series of innovative playgrounds that appropriate forgotten spaces and found objects to challenge and expand the conception of play. Parkour Generations has been approached to provide the unique insight parkour offers for the construction and use of these structures in these spaces, leading to workshops for young people on these sites during their development.

This is a quick notice to remind all of our academy class students that Moberly Sports Centre will closed this Monday 4th May due to it being a Bank Holiday. Normal service will be resumed with our beginner class on Tuesday 5th May at Westminster Academy from 8pm.
