Denmark ADAPTs

All this week we will be delivering an ADAPT Instructor Qualification course in Denmark, at Gerlev Sports Academy, for Danish collective Streetmovement. Dan and Stephane fly out today to deliver the course and will also be teaching a couple of the regular local classes while there. We're very happy to welcome the Streetmovement team into the global ADAPT network, and we'll have more details to follow once the course is completed. Later this month we will also be delivering ADAPT in Finland.

Mill End Youth Project Workshops

Tonight we begin a series of workshops for Three Rivers District Council in Hertfordshire, being held at William Penn Leisure Centre, Mill End, Rickmansworth, WD3 8JN. The sessions are part of the Mill End Youth Project and will be running Friday evenings from 6-7.30pm and are open to all.

1000 Muscle Up Challenge

On Saturday 11th December, several members of the Parkour Generations team will be aiming to complete 1,000 muscle ups each in a 24-hour time limit in order to hopefully raise some money for an excellent cause. Most of you will remember our good friend Naoki from Japan who visited London for the second time last year and who was unfortunately severly injured during his stay here.

London Jam: November's 'Off the Wall'

This coming Sunday, November 28th, we will be holding the free London jam 'Off the Wall' in the Lewisham/Greenwich area. The jam will gather outside Lewisham station on the DLR line for a 1.30pm start, and will begin with a long game of 'Ground Zero' as it makes its way to the Greenwich training area. Off the Wall is a completely free training day organised in London every month, and provides a great opportunity for practitioners of all levels of ability and experience to get together, exchange ideas and training methods, and to learn and share knowledge.

Spiked Anti-Bullying Campaign

Our partners and producers of the official Spiked Parkour Magazine have just launched an excellent and very worthwhile new anti-bullying initiative. The initiative is called the SPIKED Knockout Bullying Campaign and is in partnership with Kidscape, the UK's anti bullying charity. The aim of the campaign is to raise funds to enable the running of schools programmes and courses, where bullied children can build confidence, self esteem and self respect.

Parkour as a Sports Leader

Thursday 25th November will see us running workshops and displays at the annual Sports Leaders UK Convention in central London. The event will be held at the new Little Venice Sports Centre in north west London, and runs all day. With Sports Leaders UK Board Members and Funders as well as some MPS attending, parkour will be at the centre of the event and is now becoming a firm favourite of the UK sporting authorities as a model new sport that can be used to benefit people right across our society.

Women's Jam: Sunday 14th November

Tomorrow, Sunday 14th November, will be the monthly Women's Jam held at the Latimer Road training spot from 1.30pm onwards. The jam starts directly after the weekend wakeup class and allows any of the girls to attend both if they wish. The girls jam is a fantastic opportunity to come along and train with with other traceuses regardless of ability, age or fitness level. It's totally free and you can email girls(at)parkourgenerations.com for more detail. The jam will meet outside Latimer Road tube station on the Hammersmith and City Line for a 1.30pm start.

New Class Starting: Fitness for Parkour

This new class will be held on Saturday mornings and will be focussed on fitness and strength training for parkour, and will run outdoors in various London parks. We'd like to welcome Jolade Olusanya to our Developing Athlete Programme. Jolade has been a regular at the London Academy for some time now and has proven himself to be both talented and dedicated. The Developing Athletes Programme (DAP) is intended to identify and assist those talented younger practitioners who may wish to take the discipline further, and is focussed on maintaining a balance between maintaining a rounded and full life and training as a performance athlete and/or parkour instructor.

A great little video edit of the recent Streetcamp in Denmark, which had Team Member Blane as guest instructor, is now online and can be seen HERE. The Streetcamp is for 13-18 year olds and is held twice a year to great success by our colleagues at StreetMovement. Another short video worth checking out is the first in a series of films following Laurent Piemontesi of the Yamakasi founders as he visits different cities to discover the place and its spirit.

American Sessions Done

Team Members Blane and Andy have spent the last week in the United States, running sessions and a Halloween event in Columbus, Ohio. The training sessions were a great success with all the local participants putting in 100% effort and showing great spirit. We would like to thank the excellent Parkour Horizons for hosting the guys and organising the sessions, and we look forward to seeing the community out there again in the future.
