Julie Angel

Julie has been working as an independent filmmaker for the past 7 years specializing in observational documentaries and sub-culture sports films. Recent broadcast credits include Parkour Sensei and Canvas of the Street for Current TV. Julie was responsible for the film Le Singe Est de Retour, an in-depth profile of French traceur Stephane Vigroux, licensed for the UK DVD retail release of Luc Besson´s District 13. Other recent parkour commercial credits include Videographer for Nokia´s 5500 sports phone global campaign, and Director, Cinematographer and Editor of Jump Westminster on behalf of Westminster Council. Julie has been involved in many self-initiated projects including Chlorine, a pool skating documentary gaining critical acclaim from both inside the skating community as well as the mainstream. Her work has been screened internationally in galleries, cinemas, festivals and online.

Julie is currently undertaking a part-time Audio Visual PhD at Brunel University´s Screen Media Research Centre in the Visual Anthropology of Space, Place and the Body through the practise of parkour, completion due in October 2008.

Julie continues to work on both commercial and self-initiated projects maintaining a balance of art, anthropology and commercial success. Julie will be working closely with Parkour Generations in creating new visual works and continuing to explore the communication of parkour.
