I want to share something with you that makes me smile.  Its something that I'm sure most of you will be able to relate to and have experienced yourself at some point.

There is a grey, fairly nondescript railing outside Kilburn Park Station.   For those of you who have been there I’m sure you’ve walked past it on many occasions without looking at it twice.  When I see that rail now it makes me feel all warm inside; it’s the simple things in life!

My first ever experience with Parkour was in Kilburn.  I turned up filled with adrenaline and having very little idea of what to expect.  While waiting, one of the instructors did a box jump up onto the above-mentioned rail.  He did it with such ease and grace that it looked like he had been lifted up and delicately placed on top.  That rail looked like Everest to me.  Something only conquered by the extreme hardcore athlete.  Any attempts made by anyone not fitting this description would result in receiving a fast track ticket to hospital.

I found myself recently waiting outside Kilburn station and looked over at that rail.  I realised that through all of the training I had done, physically and mentally, that what had once looked like the impossible now looked like something very achievable.  Cue Smile.
