Earlier this week the Compliance Officer Joy Tottman from the UK's Sport and Recreation Alliance, the umbrella organisation for the governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation in the UK representing more than 300 members - of which Parkour UK is one, attended one of our Academy Classes.

This month's British Journal of School Nursing (Vol. 5, Iss. 8, 08 Oct 2010) contains an article by Dan explaining the concept behind parkour and how a non-competitive sport can help engage all pupils in physical activity and have a postive impact on their health and wellbeing. It's great to see the clinical profession approaching the subject of parkour and how it can benefit people in such an open-minded fashion. Click the link above to find out more.

Leisure Management, the UK's leading trade publication, recently interviewed Dan and ran a piece on the development of parkour in an official capacity in the UK, looking at the teaching in schools, for councils, and how the creation of a National Governing Body came about. It's a good piece with some supporting information from the City of Westminster, and can be read online here: Leisure Management Article.

We have a new article written by team member James Gore on his approach to warming up for exercise and parkour. A must read especially if your warm up has become monotonous and needs spicing up, it can be found here in our articles section.

A new article by team member Thomas Couetdic reviewing his time teaching at the Women's Classes and regular Girls' Jams in London has recently gone public on the girlparkour website. As ever, wise words and astute observations by Thomas and well worth a read. Hit the link abve to be taken there.

One of our new Academy students has written a few words on a significant moment in her training which occurred at an outdoor class last week, led by Johann Vigroux. A new article by UK veteran Blane has just gone up in the Resources section of the site. Blane's perspective on training has always been highly insightful and this latest article is no different - here he talks about how he has moved away from more 'traditional' isolated conditioning drills to return to training concepts found at the very heart of parkour. Lauren is a diligent student of the Academy, one who travelled all the way from America purely to train in London with us. We look forward to her return early next year. Last week Parkour Coaching spent some time with American traceur Ryan Ford and accompanying film crew from Redline Films for the shooting of material for a forthcoming ESPN documentary. The team had a great time meeting Ryan, and he has since written an article on his experience of studying with Steph, Seb, Thomas and the Yamakasi.
