The end of another busy week for us, with extra workshops being run for PE teacher trainees at Gloucester University on behalf of Parkour UK, and sessions yesterday for Attlee Commmunity Centre on top of three days of training delivered for schools that have installed our new permanent training facility, 'Free:D'. Today sees the 3 year anniversary of our monthly Girl Jams, this one being the 36th!! Also the last of 2009, so come on out and train... Elephant and Castle tube station for a 12pm start. ;)

Parkour at the World Surf Lifeguard Championships

This weekend we will be running workshops and demonstrations at the World Surf Lifeguard Championships in Newquay, UK. The event runs both Saturday and Sunday 22/23 August, and we will be there on both days - if you are in the area then come down, get some sunshine and have a go at parkour for yourself!

Pacific Northwest.. ahem, PARKOUR VISIONS

The organisation formerly known as the Pacific Northwest Parkour Association, based in Seattle, USA, has just renamed itself Parkour Visions. Parkour Visions is a non-profit organization chartered by Northwest traceurs to further the goals of fostering collaboration among American parkour communities and supporting community projects that contribute to a healthier world. This includes coordinating and participating in cleanup and building/rebuilding efforts in public places, as well as bringing parkour to disadvantaged children in inner city areas.

Pan-London Summer Uni Programme

Next week the Summer University Programme commences across London, with over 35 boroughs running their own set of free activities for 8-25 year olds in the city. We begin with week-long parkour courses for Westminster and Camden on the 27th July, followed by Barnet the week after.

Business as usual....

This week sees workshops happening at the usual 15 or so schools in the London area, along with one-hit sessions for Holloway Secondary and South Camden School, plus another workshop today for Westminster's Pupil Referral Unit. End of the week has us teaching and demonstrating at the Church Street Festival and the Kilburn Grange Festival, as well as running a workshop day for the Scouts on the weekend and giving a seminar in Brazil on the weekend. A Positive Path

Tomorrow, Monday 22nd June, we will be running yet another in the ongoing series of workshops for Pupil Referral Unit young people in Westminster. These sessions are a great way to engage young people who have perhaps become disaffected and disillusioned with more conventional forms of physical activity, and have proved to be a great success throughout many London boroughs. We find the young people in the PRU scheme to have bags of talent and energy, and often simply in need of a suitable challenge - which parkour always provides ;)

Bond Times...

As part of the lead up to the forthcoming release of the new Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, we will be shooting a video tomorrow with The Times newspaper and putting one of their journalists through his paces to give them an insight into the training required to match the physicality of the new James Bond. After the great job they did with Casino Royale, we are hoping this latest episode will be just as explosive! Details of the Times piece will be advertised here when its out.

East-West Relations...

On the 16th October we will be visiting the city of St Petersburg in Russia in order to give a presentation to the authorities there on the use of parkour in the education system. Wanting to emulate London's and the City of Westminster's incredibly successful use of the discipline in schools and for social inclusion programmes over the last few years, Russia could be the first non-European nation to implement the system.
