Since the start of this year, and as a follow-on to the raft of physiological and biomechanical studies we did with Roehampton University in 2010/11, we have been engaged in a new study with Birmingham University who are using parkour to try to understand the mechanics of how large primates, such as orang-utans, actually move through the canopy of a rainforest.

Barnet Summer University Begins

Today we begin daily sessions for the Barnet Summer University, in the London borough of Barnet. Workshops run from 12-4pm in Friary Park, Barnet, and are open to anyone between the ages of 8 and 25 years old. We also begin a 2 week course for 'at risk' young people with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, running from 12-2pm today, Wednesday 5th, Friday 7th, and then 12-14th the following week. No matter where you are in London, there is something nearby ;)

Brighton University Event: May 27

This Wednesday, May 27th, we will be at Brighton University running an event featuring workshops for PE teachers from around the UK, demonstrations and presentations on the benefits of the discipline in schools and for young people. Brighton University is one of the hubs for the development of training for Physical Education teachers in schools, and with the demand for good parkour instruction in schools growing this serves as one of several great opportunities to introduce these teachers to the basic principles of the discipline.

IntoUniversity offers an innovative programme that supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to attain either a university place or another chosen aspiration, and is perfectly in line with our goal to assist the development of young people through introducing them to a positive and healthy discipline. Summer University Programmes

This week we start daily parkour workshops for the Summer University Programmes of Camden and Westminster Councils. These workshops will be running every day, for Westminster from 10am-1pm at the Westminster Academy Sports Centre and for Camden from 10.30am-1.30pm at Haverstock School in Camden. The Westminster Programme also runs from 26-29th August at the same location, and is the first officially accredited parkour course in the world as we are delivering the AQA in Parkour.

Classes are every Wednesday from 6pm til 7.30pm, held on campus grounds at Froebel College on Roehampton Lane.
