YouTube to Feature Parkour Generations Videos Internet broadcasting giant Youtube will this Thursday again feature Julie Angel's short film of Forrest and Dan, entitled 'Myspace', on its homepage. This will be the first of a series of Julie's films made in association with Parkour Generations that will be promoted on Youtube's front page, and with 'Myspace' already clocking in at around 800,000 views we can expect parkour to be getting some pretty massive exposure through this. Youtube New York Internet giant Youtube has invited Parkour Generations to take part in its Upfront Event, taking place in New York city in February. Film-maker Julie Angel, whose work with us has received such acclaim on the internet - even to the extent of two of her short films being featured on Youtube's own homepage - has very much caught their eye and she has several more projects in the pipeline. More news about the New York event to follow... New York: Youtube and Training Day Monday morning sees Parkour Generations Team Members Dan, Stephane, Chris and Julie Angel flying out to New York to participate in Youtube's huge 'Upfront' Event on February 13th. Then on the 14th the team will be running an open Training Day in Central Park, sarting at 11am at Heckscher Playground. All are welcome to come along and join in, and we look forward to see the New York community fully represented. Parkour Takes Over YouTube..! On the 2nd of May the global YouTube homepage and many of the local YouTube homepages from various countries will be featuring nothing but parkour videos for a 24 hour takeover. Parkour Generations & our filmmaker Julie Angel have been invited to be guest editors to work with YouTube and present 12 films from the global parkour community. Known as a 'Takeover Day', this event will give incredible new exposure to the grass roots of the discipline and will bring it to a whole new audience. The videos have been selected to show the international nature of parkour and the day-to-day nature of practise as opposed to the media spectacle that is so often given the limelight, and the eclectic range of edits comes from many of the global communities that Parkour Generations has had the pleasure of working with. Tune in on May 2nd..! YouTube Parkour Takeover Day: UPDATE To remind you, tomorrow (May 2nd) will be a huge day for parkour, as YouTube has invited Parkour Generations and film-maker Julie Angel to provide parkour videos for a Takeover Day - meaning the YouTube homepage will feature NOTHING but parkour videos for the entire day and a little longer. We now know that as well as YouTube.com at least another 18 countries' YouTube homepages will be running the Takeover Day, including the UK and France, making this easily the largest online exposure for the discipline in history. We have selected videos from all over the world, though we couldn't fit in every one that we did want to show and would like to thank those whose edits YouTube just did not have space for! We would also like to give a huge thanks to the Yamakasi Founders and David Belle for putting forward two all-time classic videos for the day. The aim is to showcase the true discipline, the training, the community, rather than the spectacle. Tune in to YouTube.com tomorrow for this historic occurrence! YouTubed Out..! The YouTube Parkour Takeover Day proved to be an enormous success, bringing the discipline to a whole new audience and touching thousands of people in the process, most of whom we are still hearing from now..! It has been extremely positive all-round. Huge thanks to all the people who worked so hard to get their videos ready for the event, and to everyone who tuned in to support those film-makers and their films. And a big thanks to YouTube of course and Andrew Bangs for making it happen! YouTube Parkour Day Feedback The YouTube Parkour Takeover Day we organised in conjunction with film-maker Julie Angel on May 2nd has proven to be one of the most successful Takeover Days YouTube has done. Feedback from the authorities at YouTube tells us that the 13 selected videos received over 6 million views in just two days..! One of the videos stayed among the "Most Viewed" category for a couple days, which apparently is quite an achievement for a featured video. The positive feedback form this event has been enormous, and the repercussions will go on being felt for some time yet. Thanks again to everyone involved and to the film-makers in particular!
